As many of you know, Rowen is in the hospital for a scheduled operation. He checked in today (Wednesday), the surgery is tomorrow and he will check out on Friday. This is an out-patient suregry in America but in Japan they are more cautious and he and Caitlin will stay two nights. By rule, men are not allowed to stay with the children over night.
Today we checked him in and got settled into his room. He shares a room with two Japanese girls who look to be in elementary school. The children's ward where he is staying is filled with many long term patients who have made the hospital home. We really hope to bring some encouragement and love to the other patients and their families.
We also had several tests done to make sure he is healthy and ready for surgery. We had a consultation with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. They were both very kind and we feel Rowen is in good hands. In other news, Rowen's monkey is quite healthy.
