...twelve little girls in two straight lines, they left the house at half past nine...

Though this looks like a reality version of a Madeline book, this is how all the children travel to school. They wear matching hats and are escorted by a few adults. Each child has a sturdy backpack that is specially made to help protect them if they are ever hit by a car. I've heard that the backpacks cost a few hundred dollars! Anyway, they all march up the streets with their matching hats and backpacks, and it's pretty cute.

So...I wonder if the backpacks have airbags in them?? Inflatable paramedic workers??? ;)
